2018 Western Region Annual Meeting: The Pacific Rim Conference

The Western Region is delighted to invite our fellow IPPS members and friends from other IPPS regions to join us in Hawaii for our Annual Meeting, the "Pacific Rim Conference", in 2018. We have been able to secure excellent room rates, interesting speakers and many wonderful tour locations. A three-night, two-day pre-conference tour will begin with a reception on Saturday, July 28 at Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu. Enjoy all-day tours on Oahu Sunday and Monday, and a free day on Tuesday to relax on Waikiki and fly on to Kona on the Big Island. We will kick off the conference with a reception and registration at the Courtyard King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel (our conference) in the Kona Village (our conference hotel) on Tuesday evening.

Participate in the annual meeting by bringing a poster covering a research, development, or horticultural practice about plant propagation or plant production, including new plants. Posters do not have to be academic or scientific in nature, but must be non-commercial. Click here for more information and the application form. All day tour to east side of the island of Hawaii across the mile-high Saddle Road that cuts between the two large mountains on the island, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. We’ll visit nurseries in Hilo, have lunch at Nani Maua Gardens, visit Mauna Loa one of the world largest macadamia nut processors, and Akatsuka Orchid Gardens in Volcano, Hawaii. We’ll travel though lava flows and lots of interesting terrain as we circle the south end of the island and make our way back to Kona.

Morning: Lecture Session

Afternoon:  ½-day tour in Kona area to local nurseries, a coffee grower and Cloud Mountain topical gardens.
